RAPID CITY, SD — Saturday, February 7, 2026 Under the No Kings banner, Indivisible Rapid City (IRC) is organizing a rally and mutual aid drive to protest recent federal budget cuts to essential healthcare, food assistance, and other social supports enacted following the Republican-led passage of the “One Big, Beautiful Bill Act” (OBBBA) in 2025.

In addition to the rally, Indivisible Rapid City will host a drive for new and gently used winter gear to benefit Pejuta Waste O’Tipi (Good Medicine Lodge), a local organization providing support and resources to unhoused and vulnerable community members.

South Dakotans are already feeling the effects of OBBBA-related cuts to SNAP, Medicaid, and student loan programs. As federal leaders concentrate power and withdraw vital resources from working families, communities are stepping up to care for one another through collective action and mutual aid.

The rally will take place Saturday from noon to 1:00 p.m. at Rapid City City Hall (300 6th Street, Rapid City, SD 57701). Attendees are encouraged to bring donations of new or gently used winter items, including hats, socks, gloves, scarves, coats, and blankets. All donated items will be distributed through Pejuta Waste O’Tipi.

“When those in power strip away resources that people rely on to survive, communities respond by showing up for one another,” said Lesleigh Owen, Outreach Coordinator for Indivisible Rapid City. “This rally is about resisting harmful policies while practicing the collective care our leaders have failed to provide.”
