FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

RAPID CITY, SD — On Wednesday, April 9th from 10:00 to 11:00 AM, members of the community and supporters of the Indivisible movement will gather outside Senator John Thune’s Rapid City office (246 Founders Park Dr.) for a peaceful protest titled “Listen Up, John Thune!”

This protest aims to urge Senator Thune to prioritize the voices of his South Dakota constituents over the dangerous policies being pushed by Donald Trump and his allies. Participants will call on the Senator to reject extremist MAGA politics and protect essential programs like Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, LGBTQ+ rights, veterans’ services, and democratic institutions.

“President Trump’s agenda is hurting South Dakotan’s,” said a local Indivisible volunteer. “Senator Thune has a duty to speak up for the people of this state, not to just fall in line with billionaires or political extremists.”

Participants are encouraged to arrive 15 minutes early.

Please note: Parking in private lots is prohibited. Attendees should use the lot closest to the trailhead or public parking at Founders Park on Omaha Street.

This action is part of Indivisible’s national Hands Off! campaign, a grassroots response to authoritarian power grabs and attacks on fundamental freedoms.

Come raise your voice. Democracy depends on it.
